The delegation of the South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (XAMK) visited the Volga State University of Technology (VSUT). Agreements on double diplomas for undergraduate programs «Environmental Engineering» and «Building Services Engineering» were concluded between the Universities ХAMK and VSUT during the visit.

The Inter-regional folk festival «Muro pamash» («Song spring») was held in the Mari El Republic. Folk dance Ensemble of the University of Tartu (Estonia) took part in the festival.

The exhibition «Planet Earth. Famous cities of Italy» provided by the International Spiritual Culture Center of Samara was opened in the National Art Gallery in Yoshkar-Ola.
About 100 photographs devoted to the cities of Italy (Rome, Venice, and Florence) are presented in the exhibition.

The exhibition of documents from the Archive of Foreign Policy of the Russian Federation «1939. The beginning of the Second World War. Secret documents of diplomacy» was opened in Yoshkar-Ola on the eve of the 80th anniversary of start of the Second World War.
The exhibition was organized by the Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola together with the National Library named after S.G. Chavayn.

The Summer School for students and teachers of the Volga State University of Technology (VSUT) took place at the University of Aristotle in Thessaloniki (Greece) within the framework of the Erasmus+ project «GIS and Remote Sensing for Sustainable Forestry and Ecology» (SUFOGIS).
The summer school program was developed by the Center of Excellence named after Jean Monet of VSUT and the University of Aristotle, which the coordinator of the SUFOGIS project is.

Cultural events – the Festival of Finno-Ugric Youth Music and the Ritual celebration-the prayer «Syrem» – was held in the village Shorunzha of the Mari El Republic within the framework of the project «Shorunzha – Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture 2019».
Folklore band of seto dance «Hovehall» (Estonia) took part in the events.

Master-class «Let’s know Europe» in the framework of the project «European Union as a model of globalization: experiences, values, perspectives", implemented by the financial support of the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union, was held at the sports and health camp «Olympiec» of the Mari State University.
32 schoolchildren from the Mari El Republic expanded their knowledge of the European Union.

Folklore band «Ushanlyk» («Expectation») from the Mari El Republic took part in the festival devoted to the 200 anniversary of the birthday of Hungarian scientist and traveller Antal Reguli in Zirc (Hungary).

The team of the Mari El Republic won the XIII Tourist gathering of schoolchildren of the Union State in the Smolensk region. Teams from 36 regions of Russia and Belarus took part in the competition.

The delegation of 10 students from the Mari El Republic led by the employee of the Ministry of Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism of the Mari El Republic Ulyana Chernysheva took part in the VI Russian-Chinese Youth Forum «Volga–Yangtze» in the Hunan province of China.
The forum was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

Members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Mari El Republic met with representative of the International Center for business and cultural cooperation «Russian House in Italy» Evgeny Strogonov. The possibility of transfer of scientific and technical products of export-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises of the Mari El Republic to Italia was discussed during the meeting.

Head of the Mari El Republic Alexander Evstifeev took part in the VI Forum of regions of Belarus and Russia in St. Petersburg.
Aleksander Evstifeev reported on the experience of cooperation of the Mari El Republic with the Belarusian partners at the Expert session, took part in the work of the section «Development of cooperation of regions, districts and cities of Belarus and Russia as a tool of strengthening of the Union State», and held a number of meetings in the framework of the VI Forum.

Folklore band «Murseskem» («Sparks of songs») from the Mari El Republic took part in the XXV Voru Folk Dance Festival in Estonia.
Artists from Canada, Chile, Estonia, Germany, Poland, Russia, and Spain performed at the festival.

The festival «Forever with Russia» dedicated to the Day of Russia and the 100th anniversary of the Mari El Republic took place in the Mari El Republic by the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
Theatres from Ukraine – the Langeron Theatre from Kharkov and the Luhansk Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theatre – took part in the festival.

The International Scientific-Practical Conference «Ecological and technological aspects of monitoring and reproduction of forests in the conditions of climate change» was held in VSUT. The conference was organized by Rosleskhoz, the European Forest Institute, and the Center of Excellence named after Jean Monnet of VSUT.
More than 150 participants – representatives of relevant ministries and departments of Mari El, Tatarstan, Chuvashia, scientists from 7 regions of Russia, the staff and students of VSUT and MarSU – took part in the conference. Scientists from Austria, Greece, and Finland presented remote online presentations.

The state dance ensemble «Mari El» by the support of the Government of the Mari El Republic will take part in the annual festival «Young Russian culture in Italy» dedicated to the Day of Russia.
The festival is held by the support of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Italian Republic in the cities of the province of Lazio of Italy (Rome, Santa Marinella, Tolfa, Tarquinia).

The final stage of the Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture 2020 Competition was held in the Mari El Republic. Representatives of Mari El, Udmurtia, Estonia, and Finland worked in the jury of the final stage.
Mishkino village of the Mishkin District of the Republic of Bashkortostan won the title «Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture 2020». The winner was announced at the International Festival-Contest of wedding ceremonies «Syan payrem» in Shorunzha - Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture 2019.

Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola Larisa Polushina met with Head of the Investment and Export Development Agency of the Mari El Republic Dmitry Vasenin, during which the issues of prospects and mechanisms for promotion of foreign economic activity of the Mari El Republic, including small and medium businesses, were discussed.

The VI International Finno-Ugric Students’ Forum «Wealth of Finno-Ugric peoples» organized by the Association of Students and Postgraduates of Finno-Ugric Universities by support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture, Press and Interethnic Relations of the Mari El Republic took place in Yoshkar-Ola.
More than 280 students and postgraduates from 11 regions of the Russian Federation (Perm region, republics of Karelia, Komi, Mari El, Mordovia, Tatarstan, Udmurtia, Chuvashia, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra, Nizhny Novgorod Region; Moscow City) took part in the forum.

The III Round of the Open International Student Internet-Olympiad in mathematics took place on the basis of VSUT. 94 students from 56 universities of Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan took part in the III round of the Olympiad in Yoshkar-Ola.
Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola Larisa Polushina welcomed the participants of the Olympiad.
Video bridge between VSUT and Ariel University (Ariel, Israel) was held in the framework of the opening ceremony of the III round of the contest.

The XV International Spring Scientific Conference «Socio-humanitarian science and practice in the XXI century» took place at the Faculty of Social Technologies of VSUT. Participants from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, Slovakia, USA, and Ukraine sent articles for publication in the conference materials.

The delegation of the Government of the Mari El Republic took part in the third session of the Council for interregional cooperation in the Volga-Yangtze format, co-chaired by Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov and Member of the State Council of China Wang Yong in Cheboksary.
Issues of the current state and prospects of development of interregional cooperation between the regions of the Russian Federation and the Upper, Middle reaches of the Yangtze river of China in trade, economic, scientific, social and cultural spheres were discussed during the session of the Council.

The delegation of the Concord University (USA) made an educational visit to VSUT. Head of the delegation, professor of the Concord University Roy Ramtun and four American students held training presentations for students, negotiations on cooperation development with management and teachers of VSUT, visited the sights of the Mari El Republic in the framework of the visit.

International days were held in MarSU within the framework of Erasmus+ – Jean Monnet project «European Quality Assurance for Students». The purpose of the event is to discuss effective practices of students’ participation in the quality assurance of education, the specifics of international accreditation in accordance with European standards, conducting training sessions.
Representatives of the delegation from Germany: special representative of the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) Birger Hendrix, Professor of the Higher School of Osnabrück Gemlich Volker, student-expert of FIBAA Bolens Christopher acted as speakers. More than 600 participants took part in the forum events.

Annual seminar on Russian language and history of Russia for foreign students took place in Yoshkar-Ola. It was organized by the Republican Center of Russian Culture by the support of the Ministry of Culture, Press and Ethnic Affairs of the Mari El Republic in the framework of events dedicated to the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture.

The action «Our power is in our strong friendship!» devoted to the Day of Unity of Peoples of Belarus and Russia took place in Yoshkar-Ola. The event was organized by the Republican Center of Russian Culture under the support of the Ministry of Culture, Press and Ethnic Affairs of the Mari El Republic.
Folk vocal ensemble «Slavs» from Belynichi (Belarus) took part in the event.

The seventh interregional festival of national cultures «Friendship Bridge», organized by Club of international friendship of students «Bridge», took place at the Volga State University of Technology (VSUT). Students of educational institutions from Mari El, Tatarstan and Chuvash Republic – representatives of 16 nations of the world, and folk vocal ensemble «Slavs» from Belynichi (Belarus) took part in the event.

The group of students and teachers of the Faculty of Social Technologies of VSUT visited the Baranovichi State University and the Belarusian State University of Technology in the Republic of Belarus.
During the visit head of the group professor Vladimir Shalaev met with the leadership of Belarusian universities. Sides discussed further educational and scientific cooperation of VSUT with BarSU and BSUT in the sphere of social sciences and humanities.

Meeting of students and teachers of the Institute of Economics, Management and Finance of the Mari State University (MarSU) with professor of the University of Latvia Zaiga Krisjane was held in MarSU in the framework of the international program «YMobility - Erasmus+».
Migration processes on the example of Latvia and Western Europe were considered during the meeting in the format of the round table «New approaches and trends in migration studies».

The IV All-Russian scientific-practical conference «International Humanitarian Cooperation: New Challenges and Opportunities» organized by the assistance of the Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola and by the support of the Association of Russian Diplomats took place in MarSU in Yoshkar-Ola.
Deputy Director of the Department for Humanitarian Cooperation and Human Rights of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mikhail Khorev, Consul General of Uzbekistan in Kazan Fahriddin Nasriev, Vice-President of the Russian Association of Political Science, Professor of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation Lidia Timofeeva, Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola Larisa Polushina were special guests of the conference.

Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola Larisa Polushina met with Minister of Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism of the Mari El Republic Lydia Batyukova.
Prospects of development of international cooperation of the Mari El Republic in the sphere of tourism were discussed during the meeting. The sides noted the importance of revitalization of presentation activities of the region, using the modern mechanisms to promote the international interests of the region, drawing attention to the tourism opportunities of the Mari El Republic, including the practice of press-tours of foreign journalists, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Solemn events dedicated to the official opening of the project «Shorunzha – cultural capital of the Finno-Ugric world 2019» was held in the Mari El Republic. Representatives of the Finno-Ugric regions of Russia (Republic of Mari El, Komi and Udmurtia) and Estonia took part in the event.
During 2019 in Shorunzha will be held 12 cultural thematic events on the national and international levels involving more than 10000 visitors.

Professor of the Volga State University of Technology (VSUT), head of the International Centre of Excellence named after Jean Monnet of VSUT Eldar Kurbanov took part in the first coordination session of the International project SUFOGIS (GIS and Remote Sensing for Sustainable Forestry and Ecology), funded by the European Union within the framework of the Erasmus+ program, in Vienna (Austria).
The International Centre of Excellence named after Jean Monnet of VSUT and the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki (Greece) are coordinators of project SUFOGIS.
Issues of the first project activities were discussed during the session.

Delegation of the Mari State University (MarSU), led by Rector Mikhail Shvetsov, took part in the forum «Involving of students in the European Quality Assurance of education» on the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) in Bonn (Germany).
The forum was held within the framework of the project «European Quality Assurance for Students» (EQAS), in which the National Accreditation Agency in the field of education (Rosakkredagentstvo), the Russian Youth Union and the Irkutsk State University are also participating.

Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Yoshkar-Ola Larisa Polushina reported on the role of the subjects of the Russian Federation in the implementation of Russian foreign policy at a session of heads of regional state executive authorities and territorial divisions of federal executive authorities in the Government of the Mari El Republic.
The issues of the role of regions in the implementation of Russian foreign policy, the procedure of exercising of the international cooperation by the entities of the Russian Federation and the system of assistance to the development of international cooperation of the regions were discussed.
